Last week’s kickoff was one of those moments that leaves you feeling deeply grateful.
Looking around the room, I saw people from every part of King County and every part of my life in public service — labor leaders, housing advocates, transit champions, business owners, arts & ...culture leaders, parks champions, community partners, friends, neighbors, and people who simply care deeply about making government work for the people it serves.
That broad coalition means so much to me because it reflects how I’ve always tried to lead: by bringing people together, doing the hard work, and staying focused on delivering real results for our communities.
Thank you to everyone who showed up, supported, volunteered, donated, and continues to believe in this work. I truly do not take it for granted.
As filing week came to a close, I also learned that I am running unopposed for re-election to the King County Council. It is an honor to serve District 6, and know that I will continue to serve with the commitment, energy, and accountability that this role deserves. There is still so much work ahead — on affordability, housing, transit, public safety, climate resilience, and making sure local government is responsive and effective for the people who rely on it every day. I’m excited and ready to keep doing the work together.
I’m so thankful for the growing coalition supporting this campaign, including labor partners, environmental advocates, and community leaders who care deeply about making progress for our region.
These endorsements reflect what I believe: we get the best results when we work together. ...I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished—and ready to keep building on it for District 6.
From concept to reality - almost 20 years in the making! Light rail across the lake is now here!
In 2008, when we started working on this project, our kiddo Victor was little, and light rail across Lake Washington was still just an idea.
This weekend, Victor, who is now 20, and I... stood together and watched that idea become real.
I've spent the better part of my professional life working, and sometimes fighting, to make this happen.
You could say this train is my "other baby" 🙂
This project exemplifies how local government can dramatically improve people's lives when we do our job - delivering real connections, real access, and real opportunity. And we did it!
My deepest gratitude to all the thousands of people who made this all possible. I'm excited for what we can do together next!
